ABOUT

This album cover was created for a band’s upcoming release which musically is a blend of 80s synthwave and melodic rock.

They wanted a design which is in line with their previous covers and could equally work well across multiple formats,
i.e. vinyl cover & digital platforms. 

The only brief I received was the album title and fonts along with a selection of songs to help inspire the design.

INSPIRATIONS

I have a good understanding of the genre given that I`m listening to similar music myself, so I was already familiar with the aesthetic that defines this style. 

Synthwave and melodic rock fans often have a connection to visual styles that echo the past and feel nostalgic.

This is why I aimed to create a design which allows fans to instantly recognize and identify whether the album is something that resonates with their musical tastes.

Drawing from the airbrushed neon aesthetics of the 80s, I decided to incorporate bold, vibrant colours and futuristic/sci-fi elements to reflect the musical style and ensure that it stands out
-even as a small thumbnail on platforms like YouTube.
